Lucy's 3rd Flamingo Fest

Hold on to your Flamingo Feathers...this is a long one...

So, here I am to share pictures and details from Lucy's 3rd Birthday.  And if you know me, I find it nearly impossible to narrow down the pictures I share.  Especially when it's a birthday party that I'm sure I've put 20+ man hours into.  Not to mention, it is the celebration of one of my babies coming into the world...how could I possibly cap the number of pictures on that?

As I mentioned earlier this summer, I decided to go for a Lily Pulitzer inspired flamingo party for my Lu.  It just seemed so absolutely fitting...bright colors, fun flamingos, and lots of pizazz.  Because, you know, Lucy is a bucket of pizazz and then some.

I also assume this will be the last year I can solely pick out the theme of Lucy's party.  I have a feeling she is going to be a very opinionated 4 year old.

So with that, welcome to Lucy's 3rd Birthday Flamingo Fest...

We held Lucy's party at the neighborhood pool.  I have a love/hate relationship with this venue.  Love the pool and all the tables...hate setting up into the wee hours of the night the day before after the pool has closed.  Exhausting!

I set the food up in my usual spot.  I covered the stone wall with very pink fabric {it was actually called flamingo pink!}.  I served all the lunches in pink and green sand pails from the Dollar Store.  I made sure to remove the non matching shovels.  We seriously have 22 shovels down in the sand box now.

And I added a pink tulle skirt to my collection....I absolutely adore these things now.  Off of Etsy if you're in the market.

I filled each pail with a flamingo shaped sandwich {in the bag}, pink or green yogurt from Trader Joes, and those sweet little cups from Sweet Peach Paperie with green grapes.  Each kid took home their pails so we made sure to pass out pink to the girls and green to the boys.

I set the dessert and pink lemonade up on the same bar.  I found these great vinyl tablecloths at Michaels.  I have ruined a lot of fabric on the dessert bar so I was as pleased as punch when I spotted these.

A few extras at the bar were the Lily flamingo cups...I just couldn't resist.  The guests each got to take theirs home.  I also found flamingo straws and flamingo lollipops on Oriental Trading.

For favors I literally stalked and scavenged every Dollar Store in a 15 mile radius to get these pink and green straw water bottles.  I then put vinyl flamingos on them, filled them with pink crinkle paper and toy flamingos, and tied on this precious favor tag {again from Sweet Peach}.

I'm such a sucker for fun activities for the kids.  And even though this was a pool party, I just had to give the kids some fun crafts to make and take.

Now, lets be honest, there are not a lot of flamingo crafts out there.  So I had to get a little creative on this one.  The first was "Fancy Flamingos".

I had a tray set up on the table filled with every craft supply you could possibly think of.  Then the guests went to town decorating a card stock flamingo.  Again, I used one of those vinyl tablecloths.  I saved the Lily fabric for the food tables.

Another activity were the "Flamingo Totes".  I ordered white canvas tote bags from Oriental Trading. The kids painted their hands, added details, and turned their handprint into a flamingo!

It was a super fun mess!

I also set up a "Flamingo Toss" on the lawn.  This kids had so much fun with this...who would have known?

And other than that, the pool was put to good use!  I was beyond ecstatic when the rain held off and we even got a peak of sunshine.  I think God must love my little Lu....and this party planning momma.

Before we knew it, it was time for lunch.  Maggie was such an amazing party helper {I think we will go into business together one day}.  She passed out all the lunch pails to our guests and made sure everyone got the correct color.

I saved the good Lily fabric for the food tables.  I got the fabric off of Amazon...I know a lot of people were wondering about that.  I also had flamingo pom pom centerpieces at each of those and flamingo glasses from Party City.

The best part of all was the trip Uncle Jon and our future Aunt Bailee made all the way up to celebrate sweet Lucy.  What a lucky girl!

It was finally time for Happy Birthday and cupcakes!  Lucy had been ready for this since the start of the party.

She grinned and bared it through the 100 pictures we made her take and then...

....finally got to blow out her candles....

...and devour her cupcake! Yum!

Well deserved for my FaVoRiTe 3 year old in the universe!

I just don't think I could love this spunky little gal anymore if I tried!  Happy Birthday Lovely Lu!  We absolutely adore you and can't wait to enjoy another year of wonderful you!

{and as always a huge thank you to Tracy at Sweet Peach Paperie...she always shares my vision and amazingly brings it to life!}

Flamingo In Waiting {for the good pictures}

We celebrated Lucy's 3rd birthday today Flamingo Style!

This has been a long time coming and little one was so excited!  She has been staring at a pile of pink of green in the basement for a couple of months now.  I'm pretty sure she was beginning to think it was never going to happen.

But, lo' and behold it did....and we even had a little sunshine to boot!  You have no idea what a surprise blessing that was after I stalked every weather app possible with not even a sliver of good news.

In the end it turned out to be an absolutely lovely celebration for my lovely Lu!

I'm on standby for a week or two waiting for the professional pics {ugh}, but I just had to share a few from my camera and a couple camera phones in attendance.  It will be plain to see, I didn't try too hard.  My camera was passed around {thankfully} while I was Fla-mingling it up with the Birthday girl and her guests.

I adored having the opportunity to enjoy myself while someone else captured all the fun.  However, I can't wait to see the real ones soon!

I will be sure to share the GOOD pictures when I get them...and all of the fantastic Flamingo details.  Stay tuned...

Gotta run have dinner with my sweet family who traveled here JUST to celebrate Lucy {sigh}.

Lucy Is Three!

Lucy is officially three years old today.  I can't believe my baby is three!  Although she was acting three years old a good couple of months ago, I held on to the gift of saying she was a mere "two years old".

I mean you must agree, doesn't "two" still sound like a baby?  Now I have to come to terms with the fact that my last baby is three....going on 15.

Although Lucy's party isn't until next weekend {and don't even get me started on that one}, I couldn't let today pass without acknowledging our little cherry on top that graced our lives on this day back in 2012.

We celebrated with a few morning gifts from Grandma and then a pink cake for dinner.  Just as I knew she would be, Lucy was perfectly content and lapped up the birthday attention.  Other than that, we didn't do much around here except get little one psyched up for her Flamingo Bash next weekend. She can hardly wait!

And with this quiet day at home, it was nice to reflect on what makes our Lucy so special.

Three years ago I could have never guessed the smiles this little gal would bring to our family.  Of course, I knew I loved her.  But, I never expected the pure contagious fun that Lucy would bring to our family.   Lucy is spunky, hilarious, brave, bold, and fearless.  She is kind, gentle, loving and beautiful.

There is no doubt that I need her as much as she needs me.  Littlest Lu always knows how to bring a smile to my face!  Love you baby girl!  xoxo

And with that, my Lovely Lu is 3.  I can't wait to see what antics she has planned for this next year of her life.  If I know her, it will be a wild ride...

Happy Birthday Grandma

We started our first round of August Birthday celebrations this week.  Grandma is always up first with Lucy following close behind.  Those two love sharing a birthday month.

We took Grandma to an early dinner {I've got some tired kiddos on my hands as of lately}.  We decided to try something new in an effort to semi-surprise her.  Not to mention our family LOVES seafood.

We showered Grandma with her birthday gift right there at the restaurant.  It was pure chaos with tissue paper flying and grandkids "helping".  We made Grandma a "Lily Pulitzer" basket.  I've got "Lily" super on the brain right now with Lucy's party coming up.  Plus it just screams summer birthday.

We filled a basket with just about every Lily good and pattern you can get...shorts, flip flops, a notebook, a tumbler, a luggage tag, and a candle.  It was definitely a colorful birthday present and so fun to put together.

We returned to Grandma's house to enjoy a specially homemade cake from the kiddos.

I only wish I had a better picture of the cake.  It was absolutely adorable and very obviously "kid made".  But it was delish!

Happy birthday Mom {Grandma}!  So blessed to call you my own. xoxo

Lucy's turn next!!!!
