So, here I am to share pictures and details from Lucy's 3rd Birthday. And if you know me, I find it nearly impossible to narrow down the pictures I share. Especially when it's a birthday party that I'm sure I've put 20+ man hours into. Not to mention, it is the celebration of one of my babies coming into the world...how could I possibly cap the number of pictures on that?
As I mentioned earlier this summer, I decided to go for a Lily Pulitzer inspired flamingo party for my Lu. It just seemed so absolutely fitting...bright colors, fun flamingos, and lots of pizazz. Because, you know, Lucy is a bucket of pizazz and then some.
I also assume this will be the last year I can solely pick out the theme of Lucy's party. I have a feeling she is going to be a very opinionated 4 year old.
So with that, welcome to Lucy's 3rd Birthday Flamingo Fest...
We held Lucy's party at the neighborhood pool. I have a love/hate relationship with this venue. Love the pool and all the tables...hate setting up into the wee hours of the night the day before after the pool has closed. Exhausting!
I set the food up in my usual spot. I covered the stone wall with very pink fabric {it was actually called flamingo pink!}. I served all the lunches in pink and green sand pails from the Dollar Store. I made sure to remove the non matching shovels. We seriously have 22 shovels down in the sand box now.
And I added a pink tulle skirt to my collection....I absolutely adore these things now. Off of Etsy if you're in the market.
I filled each pail with a flamingo shaped sandwich {in the bag}, pink or green yogurt from Trader Joes, and those sweet little cups from Sweet Peach Paperie with green grapes. Each kid took home their pails so we made sure to pass out pink to the girls and green to the boys.
I set the dessert and pink lemonade up on the same bar. I found these great vinyl tablecloths at Michaels. I have ruined a lot of fabric on the dessert bar so I was as pleased as punch when I spotted these.
A few extras at the bar were the Lily flamingo cups...I just couldn't resist. The guests each got to take theirs home. I also found flamingo straws and flamingo lollipops on Oriental Trading.
For favors I literally stalked and scavenged every Dollar Store in a 15 mile radius to get these pink and green straw water bottles. I then put vinyl flamingos on them, filled them with pink crinkle paper and toy flamingos, and tied on this precious favor tag {again from Sweet Peach}.
I'm such a sucker for fun activities for the kids. And even though this was a pool party, I just had to give the kids some fun crafts to make and take.
Now, lets be honest, there are not a lot of flamingo crafts out there. So I had to get a little creative on this one. The first was "Fancy Flamingos".
I had a tray set up on the table filled with every craft supply you could possibly think of. Then the guests went to town decorating a card stock flamingo. Again, I used one of those vinyl tablecloths. I saved the Lily fabric for the food tables.
Another activity were the "Flamingo Totes". I ordered white canvas tote bags from Oriental Trading. The kids painted their hands, added details, and turned their handprint into a flamingo!
It was a super fun mess!
I also set up a "Flamingo Toss" on the lawn. This kids had so much fun with this...who would have known?
And other than that, the pool was put to good use! I was beyond ecstatic when the rain held off and we even got a peak of sunshine. I think God must love my little Lu....and this party planning momma.
Before we knew it, it was time for lunch. Maggie was such an amazing party helper {I think we will go into business together one day}. She passed out all the lunch pails to our guests and made sure everyone got the correct color.
I saved the good Lily fabric for the food tables. I got the fabric off of Amazon...I know a lot of people were wondering about that. I also had flamingo pom pom centerpieces at each of those and flamingo glasses from Party City.
The best part of all was the trip Uncle Jon and our future Aunt Bailee made all the way up to celebrate sweet Lucy. What a lucky girl!
It was finally time for Happy Birthday and cupcakes! Lucy had been ready for this since the start of the party.
She grinned and bared it through the 100 pictures we made her take and then...
....finally got to blow out her candles....
...and devour her cupcake! Yum!
Well deserved for my FaVoRiTe 3 year old in the universe!
I just don't think I could love this spunky little gal anymore if I tried! Happy Birthday Lovely Lu! We absolutely adore you and can't wait to enjoy another year of wonderful you!
{and as always a huge thank you to Tracy at Sweet Peach Paperie...she always shares my vision and amazingly brings it to life!}
