After a year full of dance lessons, the girls performed their finale this week. It was for sure my favorite to date!
Although the finale was on Saturday, we spent days before at rehearsals. Thats three days of make-up, hair-dos, costumes, and traveling back and forth to the theater. I thought I'd never make it through. But once those girls hit the stage it was all worth it.
Maggie is a dance LOVER! It thrills me to know she has found her passion. Not to mention come out of her shy shell. We went from her first recital with her back turned to the audience sobbing to this! She performed in two numbers...tap and hip hop. And next year, she's all signed up for four classes.
Now this little beauty of mine, made it through the year. And not without a fight. She waffled all year about dance and by the close of the year, she was confident that dance was not for her. That being said, I'm so proud of her for sticking it through and putting on the performance of her life.
And although Lucy was invited to petite competitive dance company {such an honor}, she still opted out and wants to put her focus on gymnastics. I have my fingers crossed that dance will call her name again one day. But until then, I got to enjoy a tap and ballet number for possibly the last time.
I tired my best to just sit back and enjoy the show come finale day, but I couldn't help grabbing a quick picture of Lu on stage.
Lucy performed in the morning show {yes there were two shows!}. We celebrated her, changed her clothes, ate a super fast lunch, got Maggie all made up and then headed for show number two. Shew...I'm tired just typing all that.
The afternoon show was just as amazing as the morning. I could not get enough of Maggie in her hop hop number. I was so mesmerized by my sweet girl break dancing that I couldn't take my eyes off of her to get a picture. I could have watched it a hundred times over. I can't wait for the video!
So one might think it is time for a break. Not so, Maggie is attending dance camp this summer and would probably do it all summer long if I allowed it. And my darling non-dancer, Lucy, made gymnastics team and is putting in some serious hours there.
But I vow to squeeze in some summer enjoyment between the gym and studio!
