Karate Kid

Way back in January Jack started karate.  At least January seems "way back" to me.  {Our lives have been a serious whirl wind and 2013 certainly hasn't slowed it down.}

It all started with that whole "you can do two activities" conversation that Jack and I have ever so often.  At the time he was in the midst of tennis and Lego club.  We knew baseball was on the horizon and he really wanted to give Karate a try.  So...with much angst and debate, Jack traded in Lego Club {yes, you read correctly} and tennis for Karate and baseball.

Little did I know that he had chosen the two most time consuming activities of all of them.
Basically, if we aren't at the baseball field, we are at Karate.  Karate is a two day a week deal.  And though class is only 30 minutes, by the time I load at least one kid {and often 3} in the car, drive there, watch class and head home, it's actually a good hour.

But...he loves it.  And...he is getting really good. And most importantly...he is learning some valuable life lessons.  Respect, goal setting, hard work, and focus, just to name a few.

So that leads me to today.  Three months and nearly 22 classes later my little Karate kid graduated to a yellow/white belt.  And Clay and I were there to revel in Jack's proud moment.

Let the graduation begin...

There was even an opportunity for the parents to volunteer.  Daddy was the first in line.  Jack loved it.

Our White/Yellow belt graduate!  Way to go Jack!
